As part of our Community Service mandate, RCSCC DUNDAS applied to Adopt-A-Park with the City of Hamilton - specifically the park located beside the Community Center we parade in: Matilda Street Natural Playground.

This week, the cadets conducted its first spring park clean up.  They collected the trash and recycling left over from the spring melt and raked up the leaves and brush left behind from the fall.  The park is ready for a fresh layer of mulch and children to return to play.  Perfect timing!

This initial community clean up (that also included the grounds surrounding the Dundas Lions Community Center) was organized by 3 of our staff cadets as part of their PO503 Leadership Training. The cadets divided the ship's company into smaller tasking groups and supervised the work parties. The work parties were assigned garbage pick up, bagging and raking duties.

As dusk fell and the cadets moved inside, the staff cadets also conducted some team building minute-to-win-it games to end the night on an additional high.

Thank you POC2 Yang, POC1 Yang and POC1 SD L.  Great job!
